Training and Placement Cell successfully conducted a live webinar on "Emerging Technologiies" on 13th June 2020.Disclosing this here today Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh said that this seminar was conducted by the Training and Placement Cell of the College on Saturday between 4 pm and 5 pm. In this regard 424 students and faculty members from 31 colleges and universities from different states of India participated.Bakshi and Chetna Kharbanda introduced the students to the technology.Dr. Kashmir Singh lauded the efforts of the Placement Cell for the successful organization of this webinar.
One week Online Workshop on "E-learning" organized by PG Department of Computer Science- 8th-12th June 2020
PG Department of Computer Science organized a seven days online workshop on “E-learning “ in which more than 200 students and 50 faculty members from various colleges took part. Appreciating the efforts of Computer Science Department, Director-Principal, Dr. Kashmir Singh said that this workshop will prove to be very beneficial for providing technical expertise to the students. He said that professional experts will acquaint the participants with technical assistance required in this technological era. Inaugurating the workshop, Head, UG Computer Courses, Dr. Harjeet Singh said that the students will be delivered knowledge about Digital Marketing, Search Engine Optimization techniques and E-learning resources which will prove to be fruitful in their future. Head, PG Computer Courses, Prof Mukesh Kumar gave information about various techniques that can be used for web development. Welcoming the participants, Dean Computer Science, Prof Rashmi Arora said that this workshop will be very informative. Prof Manpreet Kaur, Prof Birinder Singh and Mr. Lalit Joshi provided technical support during this workshop.
Five Days Online workshop on "Life Skills: Art of Communication " from 28th May 2020 organized by PG Department of English from 28th May to 2nd June 2020
Post Graduate Department of English organized a Five-Days Online Summer Workshop on "Life Skills:Art of Commmunication.Dr Kashmir Singh, Director-Principal,inaugurated the workshop on 28th May,20.He addressed the students and stressed upon the importance of acquiring these skills as in the present scenario, these skills are like a lifeline. He further said that by acquiring these skills,a student empowers himself and develops a confident personality which is needed to be successful.He lauded the effort of the Department.Dr Harveen Kaur, Head, Department of English welcomed the participants are informed that the workshop covered the areas from personal grooming, importance and use of body language and etiquette. The participants were taught about listening skills, interview skills, group discussion and public speaking, etc.The aim and endeavour of the workshop was to enhance and unleash the power that these skills represent.460 participants registered including some from the neighbouring states too. Prof Satpreet Kaur,Prof Rajinder Mann, Dr Manpreet Kaur, Prof Pallavi Kaushal and Prof Navkiran Kaur also conducted sessions in the workshop.
Webinar on "Innovations and Intellectual Property Rights" on 23rd May 2020 organized by PG Department of Computer Science
PG Department of Computer Science organized a Webinar on "Innovations and Intellectual Property Rights" on 23rd May 2020.Dr.S.N Panda, Director-Research, Chitkara University, was the resource person. Welcoming the resource person, Director-Principal, Dr. Kashmir Singh motivated the faculty members to do major research work and register their innovations through Intellectual Property Rights. Dr. Singh said that Intellectual Property Rights are legal rights which are acquired by a person as a result of innovation in the field of industry, science, literature or creativity in the field of art. Dr. Singh said that the intellectual property represents the total network of a person's knowledge which can be in the form of a book, patent or copyright i.e. anything which is not available in the world and which can benefit the society. Dr.Kashmir Singh congratulated the PG Department of Computer Science for organizing the Webinar. Prof Mukesh Kumar, Head, PG Computer Courses, introduced the audience with the topic of the webinar and discussed about the aim of organizing the webinar. Head, UG Computer Courses, Dr. Harjeet Singh presented the welcome address. Introducing the resource person, he shed light on his excellent research work. Dr. Panda began the session with the definition of "innovation ".He said that "An idea is the seed of innovation". He illustrated the concept of innovation with a number of real life examples. He further added that we should always try to find out the solution of a problem technically. There is no use of an idea which does not lead to an innovation and ultimately it leads to its end. He described the four types of innovations i.e. Technological, Product, Process and Management Innovations. Dr.Panda said that every innovation has a definite lifetime after that it comes to an end and this is known as "technical disruption". He motivated the faculty members to learn and apply new ideas for the teaching-learning process. By giving problems to the students, the teachers can inspire the students to find out the solutions which can lead to divergent solutions which brings out a convergent solution. Explaining about IPR, he said that we can protect our innovation or our creativity using Intellectual Property Right. Through IPR we can avoid the duplicity of research and we can use Patent Specifications. Dr. Panda discussed in detail the various tools like Copyright, Patent, Trademark, Industry Design and Geographical Indicators which can be used to protect our Intellectual Property. At the end, Prof.Rashmi Arora, Dean Computer Science, presented the vote of thanks to Dr.S.N Panda for enlightening the audience with his comprehensive and practical knowledge. Dean- Academics, Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Vice- Principal, Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Dr. Harveen Kaur and about 90 faculty members of the college attended the webinar.
Online Workshop on "Power of Thoughts: From Scientific Point of View" by Dr. Sangeeta Joshi organized by PG Department of Computer Science-18th May 2020
An online workshop on Power of Thoughts: From a scientific point of view" was conducted by Dr Sangeeta Joshi organized by PG Department of Computer Science. 196 students registered for this workshop.Dr Joshi said that according to quantum physics every thought has a frequency. Positive thinking can lead to a lot of positive change into their lives. Whereas negative thinking is something we all engage in from time to time, but constant negativity can destroy our mental health, leaving us depressed and anxious. So we should monitor our thoughts and try to keep positive affirmations and discard the negative ones. She also shared with the students the details of placebo effect experiments that concluded that you can even recover from your diseases with positive thinking. Further she explained that students should set their goals and try to achieve it with positive affirmations. At the end of the sessions she answered the queries of the students. Overall the workshop proved to be very beneficial for the students as at this point of time , when the whole of the world is fighting with epidemic Covid -19,these efforts are the need of the hour for the mental well being of the students.
Online Workshop on "How To Travel The World Without Leaving Your Seat"-12th May 2020
Department of Geography organized an Online Workshop on "How To Travel The World Without Leaving Your Seat" on 12th May 2020. A total of 111 students from Mata Gujri College and 19 students from neighboring schools took part in this workshop. The students were acquainted with new skills and free apps. Overall the workshop proved to be very successful leaving an everlasting impression on the minds of the participants.
Online Workshop on Self Management Skills organized by Department of Management Studies-11th May 2020 to 25th May 2020
The department of management studies conducted a two weeks Workshop on "Self Management” from 11th May 2020 to 25th May 2020. A total of 468 students from A.S College, Khanna, Khalsa College ,Patiala,Punjabi University Constituent College, Dreams Group of College, Sunder Nagar, GNDU Amritsar, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Daroli Kalan, KS Rangasamy College Tiruchengode,Tamilnadu, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjabi University Campus, Rayat Bahra University, Thapar University Patiala and Mata Gujri College registered for the workshop. During the workshop faculty members from the department of management studies conducted sessions on “Understanding Self and Self Management Techniques”,”Time Management”,”Management Skills and Developing Professional Skills”, “Career Planning and Development” and “Time Management And Preparing For Competitive Exams”.
One Week Webinar on Self Development -Ist May 2020
Mata Gujri College Training and Placement Cell today launched a week-long webinar on 'Self Development' during lockdown due to Covid 19, in which 345 students from different colleges participated. Director Principal Dr.Kashmir Singh said that there are many opportunities for personality building in the college. It is the responsibility of every college to build the personality of the students through internet during lockdown so that there is no stress situation among the students at this time and positive thinking can be developed in the students. He said that with this webinar the students would be given information on various topics which would help them in building their personality. At the same time many activities will be conducted with which the qualities like positive thinking, self-confidence, dedication, focusing will also be developed in them. Dean Academics,Dr Bikramjit Singh said that at present students are very conscious about their career. Through this webinar the students will get personality building as well as career guidance which will be useful for their future. He said that besides the students of Mata Gujri College, students of various other colleges of Punjab were also participating in this webinar. Dean,Training and Placement Cell,Dr Harjeet Singh said that every day from 11 am to 12 noon there would be a webinar for the students and it would create awareness among the students about many topics like health, career, time management, how to avoid stress, public speaking. Prof Sourav Sharma said that a lot of activities would be done to keep the students as active as possible during the lockdown so that the students would develop a sense of quick decision making and teamwork.
Department of English organized a Special Lecture- 5th March 2020
Department of English organized a Special Lecture on "Drama from Page To Stage" , in which Dr. Bhupinder Singh(Pali Bhupinder), Associate Professor, Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Guest Speaker. He familiarized the students with various aspects of drama and its stage presentation. Speaking on this occasion, Director-Principal, Dr Kashmir Singh said that in addition to the bookish knowledge, the behavioral knowledge helps a student to reach her destination. He further added that lectures from experts and their experiences give a direction to the students.

Department of Physics organized one-day workshop on "Joy of Learning Physics" on 4th March 2020 under star scheme.In this workshop, Retired Principal, Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh , Dr. M.S. Marwaha introduced the students to the various aspects of Physics. Speaking on this occasion, Director-Principal, Dr Kashmir Singh said that these type of workshops are very beneficial for the students as it helps them to practically learn the concepts of science.He inspired the students to adapt these concepts in their day to day life. PG Department of Computer Science Organized Industrial Visit
PG Department of Computer Science organized an Industrial Visit of BCA-III year students to CS Soft Solutions, Mohali on 12th September 2019, so as to make them aware about the current job scenario and to exhibit the corporate environment.The students were given three technical sessions, in which they pariticipated enthusiastically.Prof. Harsimrat Deo and Prof. Joga Singh accompanied the students during this visit.
PG Department of Computer science in association with Training and Placement Cell organized Job Fest
In an endeavour to provide placements to the students, PG Department of Computer Science in association with Training and Placement Cell, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a Job Fest which has been a great success both for students and software companies participated. More than 200 students from the 16 different colleges of the region took part in this fest. While speaking on the occasion; Director-Principal Dr Kashmir Singh inspired students with his words to sharpen their skills to match with the expectations of the corporate world. He also mentioned that there is abundance of talent in students and we need to explore it by providing such career opportunities to them. Further he appreciated the initiative of PG Department of Computer Science for organizing this event. Dean, Department of Computer Science, Prof Rashmi Arora said “The department will conduct some more Mega Job Fairs for the students in near future. She also mentioned that during the recruitment and selection procedure the applicants have realized their strengths and shortcomings which could be improved upon”. It was the significant employment event when more than 8 reputed software organisations like Punjab State e-Governance Society, CS Soft Solutions, SWAP IT HUB, Cybertron Technologies, Worksdelight , Next Page IT Solutions, Aviox Technologies Pvt Ltd ,Virtual Reality Expert etc. have come at one place and offered jobs to the aspiring professionals. The students who have completed their graduation and post graduation in computer science or those are into their final year of studies availed the opportunity to get job. They said this was a great experience for them where they have option to choose from many companies and select the sector in which they want to make their career.
PG Department of Computer Science Organized Campus Placement Drive
PG Department of Computer Science conducted a campus placement drive on 21st February, 2019. The students of MCA & MSc(IT) participated in this drive. Mr. Rohit Soni (Business Development Manager) and Mr. Abhishek Sood (Business Head), CS Soft Solutions, Mohali and Ms. Janpreet Bedi (Head Operations) from Appin, Alt Foundation, Chandigarh, visited the college for placements. The companies shortlisted the students on the basis of an aptitude and mental ability test. The students have practiced a lot for the preparation of the drive and the department has arranged many workshops for students on latest topics. Director-Principal, Dr. Kashmir Singh appreciated the efforts and said that making students job-ready is our main focus. He further added that the college is taking major initiatives for training and placement of the students in prestigious companies. Prof Rashmi Arora, Head, Department of Computer Science wished the students for their bright career and motivated the students to appear with great enthusiasm in their upcoming interviews. She said that we are expecting more companies to visit the college for training and placement in near future.
Training & Placement Cell Organizes Placement Drive
Training and Placement Cell of Mata Gujri College organized a placement drive by All soft solution services private limited( IBM training partner). The students of MBA, MCA, Msc IT , BBA, BCA were eligible for placements.66 eligible students participated in this drive. 26 were shortlisted in first round of aptitude test, 16 were shortlisted in GD and finally 11 students were shortlisted after personal interview.

Department of Computer Science organized a guest lecture to enhance the employability for students of MCA-III, MSc(IT)-II, BVoc(SD)-III and BCA-III on 7th September,2018. The resource person, Mr. Akashdeep Kumar, demonstrated through practical activities about how to prepare for interviews. The students were motivated to set and achieve their goals. He told the students to acquire soft skills such as creativity, confidence and communication which are expected by MNCs. Speaking on the occasion,Director-Principal, Dr. Kashmir Singh assured the students that such lectures will be organized for them in future also so that they can be made capable of getting good jobs after completion of their degrees.
Online Public Lecture organized by Department of Geography-19th June 2020
An online public lecture on the topic of Chiranjeevi Vikas was conducted by the Geography Department of the College in which the students were informed about the conservation of nature and new possibilities in this field. The keynote speaker of the lecture was Dr.Deepak Kumar Chouhan, Head, Center for Environmental Law, Central University, Bathinda. He said that only if the new generation would be sympathetic towards their soil and conservation then a better tomorrow could be expected for the coming generations. Talking to the students on the occasion,Dr.Deepak Kumar apprised the students of the importance of sustainable development as well as the role of sustainable development policies and how green development can be achieved by reducing energy consumption at the individual level. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kashmir Singh, Principal of the College said that it was the need of the hour for the students to be environment friendly. He said that many changes were taking place in the environment globally due to human negligence and We need to pay close attention to this. Dr. Kashmir Singh lauded the efforts of the Department of Geography and said that the green development model has proved to be a boon for the developing countries and now is the time for the new generation to think positively towards the environment. Presenting the motion of thanks, Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana, Head, Department of Geography said that we need to follow the path shown by Gurbani so that the new generation can connect with nature. Students, environmentalists and faculty members were present in large numbers during the lecture. Prof. Navdeep Kaur and Prof. Talwinder Singh played an important role in organizing this public lecture.
