UGC cell of Mata Gujri College celebrates International Women's Day
International Women’s Day was celebrated in Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib. To mark the day, various events were organized by the UGC cell of the college. The events included presentation on ‘Women Achievers of India’ and an essay writing competition. The theme of The powerpoint presentation showcased the Indian women who had made remarkable achievements in different fields and are a source of inspiration. The essay writing competition was on the topic ‘My Mother’. Thirty students from various departments of the college participated in the competition. Speaking on the occasion, Director-Principal, Dr. Kashmir Singh said that International Women’s Day is dedicated to all the women for their valuable contribution to society. He motivated the girl students to take inspiration from great women who have made achievements throughout history and aspire to become great themselves. On this occasion, Prof. Satpreet Kaur, Dean Students (Girls) also addressed the participants. In her address, she said that the institution is on the name of a great women ‘Mata Gujri Ji’ who is a symbol of great sacrifice and patience. The students should aspire to follow these idols and inculcate such values which will enlighten their path. She dedicated the women’s day to all those women who had fought for women’s rights and gender equality. She motivated the girl students to fight for their rights and not tolerate any inequalities. She also referred to several great women who had made a mark in their chosen field. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana, convener UGC cell. On this occasion, Dr. Nitu Trehan, Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Dr. Saurabh Gupta, Prof. Navdeep Kaur and Prof. Talwinder Singh were also present.
