Painting competition organized under Buddy Program-14th June 2020
Under the "Tu Mera Buddy" program run by the Punjab Government under the auspices of educational institutes to curb drug addiction among the youth, painting competitions of junior and senior buddies were conducted in Mata Gujri College from all over the district. Disclosing this here today the Principal of the College Dr. Kashmir Singh said that the Buddies participated in these painting competitions under the guidance of Nodal Officer Dr. Rajinder Kaur. Dr. Kashmir Singh said that it was very important for the youth to get proper guidance.

While students are studying at home in the days of lockdown, by participating in such additional competitions, they also remain mentally healthy. The first position in this competition was won by MA Fine Arts Part II student Jagjit Singh, second position.Umang Rana from MA Part II and Satnam Singh from Bvoc-I secured third position. On this occasion special consolation award was received by BA Part III student Neha Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Nodal Officer, Buddies Program said that it is very important for the youth to be physically and mentally healthy.On this occasion Prof. Birinder Singh congratulated all the winners.
Botany Department organized online competitions on "World Environment Day"-5th June 2020
Department of Botany organized various online competitions on "World Environment Day on 5th June 2020 which included Slogan Writing, Declamation and Photography for the students of 11th,12th and BSc.Director Principal Dr Kashmir Singh said that the aim of such contests is to make the young generation aware about the changes in the environment and how to protect our environment so that we can preserve it for the coming generations.About 267 participants from all over the world took part in these contests out of which 4 participants were from Germany and America. Dr Singh applauded the efforts of Botany department for organizing this event.Prof Loveneet Kaur,Head,Department of Botany said that all the participants were awarded e-certificates and the winners prize money was given to the winners.
Annual Debate Competition Organized By Geography Department - 17th September 2019
Department of Geography, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized Annual Debate competition and Workshop on Public Speaking. Students presented their individual views on the topic of ‘Would India become a corruption-free country?’ 16 teams from various departments of the college participated in the competition. Participants clearly mentioned the culture of bribery as a root cause of the problem. The Director-Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh said that only the path of awareness of fundamental rights and duties can help to eradicate these kinds of issues. Guest of honor Prof. S. C. Sharma elaborated the importance of public speaking among the youth. He said that students can have bright future by attaining the skills of public speaking. He added that these kinds of debate and discussions can help in eradicating the contemporary local and global issues. Prof. S. C. Sharma introduced the students with the various techniques of public speaking. Head of the department of Geography, Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana said that the department organizes such kinds of competitions very often to inculcate the creative skills among the students. Karanpreet Singh (Computer science) got the first prize, Simarjeet Kaur (Public Administration) got the second prize, Harman Kaur (English) got the third prize and students of JMC, Mandeep Singh and Jancy Puri got the overall running trophy. Prof. Satpreet Kaur, Dr. Jagjiwan Singh, Prof. Pardeep Kaur, Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Dr. Harjeet Kaur, Prof. Talwinder Singh and students in large numbers were present on the occasion. Prof. Navdeep Kaur conducted the stage successfully.

Paper Reading Contest - 10th September, 2019
The Computer Student Welfare Association of Post Graduate Department of Computer Science organized a paper reading competition on 10th September 2019. About 20 students of BCA –I and BVoc(Software Development)- I participated with great fervour.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh said, “These types of competitions help to boost up the confidence of the students and also enhance their reading habits.”He appreciated the efforts of student association for organizing this event.
On this occasion, Dean Computer Science, Prof Rashmi Arora stated the main objective of the competition was to encourage and develop the students’ public speaking and oratory skills. The students presented their papers on the topics- Impacts of Social Media, Man and Nature and Pros and Cons of Using Mobile Phones.
In this competition, Simranpreet Kaur of BVoc(SD)-I got first position, Preeti Saggu of BCA-I got second position whereas Sukamrit of BCA-I got third position. Arsh Behl of BVoc(SD)-I got the consolation prize.
Congratulating the winners, Head of UG Computer Courses , Dr Harjeet Singh motivated the students to participate in such contests because it helps to develop their overall personality. Head of PG Computer Courses, Prof, Mukesh Kumar, Dr Sangeeta Joshi , Prof Birinder Singh Sarao and other faculty members of the department were present on this occasion.
Seven-day online National Service Planning Camp organized by Punjabi University Patiala in association with Mata Gujri College from 16 June 2020
Seven-day online National Service
Punjabi University in association with Mata Gujri College has organized a seven-day online National Service Planning Camp.It may be mentioned that more than 1000 students and officers from various colleges affiliated to the university are participating in this inter-college camp.

Disclosing this here today Dr. Kashmir Singh, Principal of the College said that on the second day of the camp, Dr. Amarjit Singh, Head, Community School of Public Health, PGI Chandigarh addressed the volunteers and gave them tips on how to protect themselves against the epidemic of Covid 19.Talking to the volunteers on the occasion, Dr. Jaswinder Singh Bhatti, Head, Human Genetics, Central University, Bathinda, said that in order to keep one's mind optimistic during these difficult times, it is important to keep busy.

On this occasion Dr. Harveen Kaur welcomed all the speakers and officers from different colleges. Dr. Kashmir Singh said that keeping in view the mental health of the volunteers, it was very important to set up the camp at this time and the entire NSS unit of the college is to be commended for organizing the online camp. NSS Coordinator Punjabi University Patiala Dr.Paramvir Singh were also present.Dr.Gauri Handa thanked all the scholars, officers and volunteers and said that during this difficult time we have to take special care not only of our mental and physical health but also of others.

Prof. Birinder Singh Sarao, Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Dr. Rajinder Pal, Dr. Naveet Kaushal and Dr. Naina Khullar were also present on the occasion. The online camp will run till June 21.
