Aptitude Test- 17th October,2018
Post graduate department of English organized an APTITUDE TEST on 17th October, 2018 in the Seminar Hall of Commerce Block. This test included multiple choice-based questions from areas like General Knowledge, Mental Ability and English. This test was administered with the objective of giving the students a firsthand experience of national/ state level competitive exams. It was open to all the students of the college. A total of 322 students appeared in the exam.
Quiz Competition organized by Commerce Association- 12th Septebmber,2018
Dr. Kashmir Singh, Director Principal of Mata Gujri College, who was a chief guest at the quiz competition organized by the Association of Commerce, said in his speech, "Those who try never fail and knowledge is like a sea and those who can collect pearls from this sea will always achieve their goal in life". On this occasion, he congratulated Commerce dept. head Prof. Bikramjeet Singh and his team that they should be proud that their department is a role model for other departments.

Nearly 130 students participated in this quiz and out of these, top fifteen students were formed into five teams and the final competition was held between them. The team of Karina Bano (M.Sc third), Rajandeep Singh (B.Com first) and Harsimranjit Kaur (B.Com Hons. two) was first in the competition. The second place was held by Chanchal, Sandeep Kumar and Pooja. Abhishek, Govind and Lovepreet stood third in this competition. Dr. Kashmir Singh said that many students will go to different universities for their higher education and this type of competitions help the students to develop their personality.

The head of the Commerce dept, Prof. Bikramjeet Singh Sandhu, discussed the various co-curricular activities of his department in his speech. For this competition, Jashanpreet Kaur played the role of quiz master. Gagandeep Kaur gave a hearty welcome to the chief guests. Prof. Randeep Kaur and Prof. Amanpreet Kaur organized this function. During this event, Prof. Muhammad Anwar, Dr. Harjit Kaur, Prof. Rashpal Kaur, Prof. Jaspreet Kaur and the students of this dept were also present.
Debate Competition-13th September,2018
Debate competition was organized by the department of Geography of Mata Gujri College on the mission of Smart Cities initiated by the central government. 34 students from the various departments of the college participated in this Annual Debate competition. Students presented their views on the topic; Do we need Smart Cities? They said that Smart Cities are meant to reduce the difference between the rich and the poor with the help of technology. Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh admired the efforts of Geography Department and said that along with study such competitions are must for the all -round development of the students. He also added that these kind of debates are the pioneer steps for the solution of various national issues. Head of the Department of Geography, Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana told that the department organizes such competitions very to provide stage exposure to the students. The resolution of the debate was that the word ‘Smart’ is not enough to overcome the urban drawbacks, in fact we need smart people instead of smart cities. Gagandeep Singh of BJMC won the first prize, Shikha of B.Sc. Agriculture got the 2nd position and Simranjeet Singh student of Geography got the 3rd position. Prof. Satpreet Kaur, Prof. Pardeep Kaur and Dr. Harjeet Kaur were the judges of the competition. Dr. Kashmir Singh distributed the prizes to the winners. Prof. Manmohan Kaur, Prof. Jupinder Singh, Dr. Satnam Singh, Dr. Maninder Kainth, Prof. Joga Singh, Prof. Harmanjivanjot Singh, Prof. Talwinder Singh and students in large numbers were present at the moment. Prof. Navdeep Kaur conducted the stage.
Physics Fest-8th September,2018
Physics department of the Mata Gujri College held a “Physics Fest’ in which different science related competitions were conducted including Poster making, Model making and Essay writing. The students of B.Sc (Non-Medical), B.Sc Physics (Hons.), and M.Sc (Physics) participated in this competition.
Director Principal of the college, Dr. Kashmir Singh, inspired the students to work hard and enthusiastically to achieve their goals. He said that every field in today’s time adopts a scientific mindset and the students must be fully aware about how science can be applied in a practical use in daily life. Dean Academic, Prof. Bikramjeet Singh Sandhu, advised students to work hard while having a positive attitude and also, respect their teachers.
Navpreet Kaur, Chandanjot Kaur and Pranvi came first, second and third respectively in the Essay writing competition. In Poster making competition, Harleen Kaur and Simran Kaur bagged the first prize; the second place was shared by Ravleen Kaur and Simarjeet Kaur; and Ekampreet Kaur and Pranvi came third. In the Model making competition, the first position was shared by Jaspreet Singh, Manpreet Singh and Jaspreet Kaur; the second by Sandeep Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Rohit, Punit Gupta and Amandeep Singh and the third by Rupinder Kaur, Gurwinder Kaur, Sukhpreet Kaur and Navjot Kaur.
The head of the department, Dr. Tejinder Singh, said that the department focuses on practical knowledge along with the bookish knowledge of the subject. Dr. Navjeet Kaur, Dr. Anik Kaur, Dr. Deepika Jain, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Bhullar, Prof. Sarabhjit Kaur, Prof. Paramjot Kaur, Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Prof. Sheenam and the students were present in this fest.
Teej Fest - 24th August, 2018
The Commerce Association (Registered) of Post Graduate department of Commerce of Mata Gujri College organised a paper reading competition. More than 55 students of B.Com, B.Com Hons, B.Com Accounting and Finance (1st year) participated with great enthusiasm.

Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh said, “The participation of students in such competitions signifies that the students are aware about their all round development along with attaining bookish knowledge.” While appreciating the participation of the students, he said that such events develop a reading interest amongst the students and also increases the knowledge related to the language.

On this occasion, Dean Academics and Head of the commerce Department Prof. Bikramjit Singh Sandhu said that such competitions increase the knowledge of the students, brings out a great command over language and also improves their pronunciation.

The students presented their papers on the topics; Social Media: A boon or bane, Drug Legalization: A war on drugs, Public lynching, is ‘Make in India’ a success and Cyber Bullying. In this competition, Jasdeep Kaur of B.Com 1st year got first position, Charanjeet Singh of B. Com. I got second position whereas Ramanjot Singh of B.Com Accounting and Finance got third position. Pavanpreet Kaur, Nancy and Vikramjeet singh got consolation prizes.
Dr. Rashid Rasheed, Dr. Jagjiwan Singh, Dr. Navdeep Singh, Prof. Pardeep Kaur, Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana and Dr. Satnam Singh also presented their views. The function was organised by the students of M.Com Part I and II. Prof. Harjeet Kaur, Prof. Ravinder Kaur, Prof. Rashpal Kaur, staff members and students were present on this occasion.
Ad Mad Show - 14th August, 2018
Department of Management Studies of Mata Gujri College organised Ad Mad Show for the students of MBA, BBA and B.Voc (Retail Management). Nine teams of these classes participated in this event.
Team from B.Voc (Retail Management) first year with participants Navdeep Kaur, Paras Sharma, Amandeep Kaur and Lovepreet Kaur secured first position in the event. Team of MBA first year with participants Harwinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, Davinder Singh and Jagdeep Singh won second prize and team of BBA final year with participants Nimarpreet Singh, Varanpreet Singh and Parminder Bawa secured third position.
Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh shared his valuable views regarding various management skills with the students and inspired them to be innovative and creative in every sphere of life. Dr. Kamalpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Management Studies encouraged the students to be active in every field of life. This show was judged by Dr. Harjit Kaur and Ms. Sangeeta Joshi. On this occasion, the students of BBA second year distributed plants to the participating teams.
